Envision Magazine (Editorial, Rebrand)

Mentor: Annie Huang Luck

TV Guide is now Envision Magazine. We are moving into a new streaming era, yet no one knows what television is anymore. This chaotic season, we present a rebrand of TV Guide magazine, and a new issue on breaking the norm. The concept of TV is timeless; the digital frame is ever-evolving. The entertainment industry is constantly changing, yet TV Guide is still stuck in delivering traditional experiences. Rather than being a guide for local listings, TV Guide should move on from showing TV listings to focusing on shows and new streaming services. TV Guide's new name—Envision Magazine—represents the digital frame in this generation. We are moving away from targeting an older demographic to match with the current digital presence.

We are timeless.

Visual Development Concept
Dynamic, timeless, captivating.

The rebrand introduces a macro and micro logo. The macro logo consists of the "ENVISION" letters arranged in a square, where each of the squares can turn into rectangles and be extended even further. The micro logo is the "E" that is resulted from the shape of the boxes. The vision for the new identity system is a design that could extend on for generations. The new logo is dynamic and can take on various formats. This speaks to the idea of the digital frame that is always evolving. Just like the changing industry, our new logo is adaptable and can be extended infinitely. The new colors convey the idea of a timeless brand, such as colors one would see in color graded films.

First Issue
The theme for the first issue launch is "Breaking Norms". There are many things to look forward to in this new issue—starting with an article that will challenge your viewpoint on what “TV” really stands for nowadays. Throughout, we offer insight into how the Hollywood and entertainment industry is adapting to the streaming industry, as well as the changes that the virus has brought to us.
